grounds of hotel
Some of the grounds of our hotel in Lovina,
the Lovina Bali, located on the north shore of Bali.

The Lovina Bali offered early morning tours to see dolphins
from its beach area. Some of us got up early to do this.

After breakfast, we took a long drive from northern Bali back south past
Denpasar to the town of Sanur. On the way, we stopped at Undiksha
University to meet a professor and tour some of the campus with student
guides.

Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles,
the patron of arts and sciences, and the deity of intellect and wisdom.
As the god of beginnings, he is honored at the start of rites and ceremonies.
Ganesha is also invoked as patron of letters and learning.

Uluwatu
After breakfast on September 25, we rode southwest from Sanur to Pura
Luhur Uluwatu, or Temple above the Headstone. Its origins date back to the
10th century and is an example of a Balinese sea temple, perched on a cliff
330 feet above the Indian Ocean.

monkeys
At Uluwatu, there is a resident colony of macaque monkeys that are ready
to grab most everything you have that is loose. They were much more
aggressive than the ones we saw in Ubud, because the climate is drier
so water and food are less available. Some monkeys can be seen in
this photo on the side wall on the right.

monkey grooming
The monkey on the right brushed up against me unexpectedly as I
was sitting on the walkway stone wall taking a photo of
another monkey. Fur felt very soft.
